Warnings:

A healthy vaginal microbiome is characterised by Lactobacilli dominance. Lactobacilli are beneficial bacteria which are necessary for the production of lactic acid, helping to maintain optimal vaginal pH and deter the growth of harmful microorganisms. A deficiency of Lactobacilli can cause vaginal microbiome dysbiosis and an overgrowth of pathogenic microorganisms, which is linked to an increased risk of vaginal thrush, bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections1. Oral probiotic supplements containing strains of Lactobacilli can help to restore a healthy vaginal microbiome and may help to reduce the recurrence of this vaginal infections2.
